The Trigger
The Tauberbischofsheim table tennis club is closing. From now on, talented players will have to travel 80 km to the state training center in Heilbronn-Sontheim—no more than twice a week. Among those affected are Luis Freundschig and Jan Fiederling, who were 10 years old at the time.
2009 – The Founding
The TT School Is Taking Shape
Spring: Bernhard Gerold, who took early retirement and holds a TT-B license, discovers Luis and Jan’s talent during a tryout in Dörlesberg. In August, SV Niklashausen, the table tennis division of FC Dörlesberg, and Gerold sign the founding agreement for the table tennis school. In November, a partnership with Butterfly is established—the school is equipped with tables, balls, nets, and robots.
2010
The training group is growing
Eighteen young athletes train in the in-house group in Niklashausen; some travel more than 50 km to get there. An external group is being formed in Markelsheim with seven more young athletes. The students come from all over the region—from Burgsinn to Kleinheubach.

National Finals of the Mini Championships
Ten-year-old Jan Reuter has been training twice a week at the Niklashausen Table Tennis School for the past 8 months. At the national finals of the Table Tennis Mini Championships, he secured second place and drew nationwide attention to the Niklashausen Table Tennis School. His ambition and dedication to training, along with the performance-oriented environment at the school, give hope for further table tennis successes.
February 2011
Independent Department & Friends Association
The table tennis school is being transferred to a separate division of SV Niklashausen, and the booster club is being founded. The new goal: to move SV Niklashausen up to higher leagues with the help of a player-coach. Arturas Orlovas is signed as the first player-coach.
2012
Promotion to the Association League
Arturas plays as a player-coach in the Bezirksliga. Together with Jan (13), Luis (13), Marcel Greß (15), Tim Goldschmitt (14), Reinhold Greschner, and Harald Hamann, the team secures promotion to the Verbandsklasse. In the fall, Krzysztof Malcherek takes over as the new player-coach.
April 2013
Regional League!
They secured direct promotion to the Verbandsliga. With four matchdays still to go before the end of the season, newcomer SV Niklashausen secured the championship title in the Verbandsklasse Nord. This is likely the youngest men’s team in all of Germany, having started the season with three 14-year-olds and one 16-year-old in the starting lineup.

May 2013
Setbacks & Progress
A setback: Luis is quitting table tennis. The team is rebuilding around its most talented player, Jan Fiederling. At the same time, the other table tennis students are celebrating national successes with their youth teams.
April 2015
Promotion to the Badenliga
This was the team's greatest success in the region to date. In 2016, they narrowly failed to advance to the Oberliga in the promotion playoffs. A coaching change followed: Christian Behringer took over as head coach.
2018–2020
Consolidation & the New Generation
In 2018, a youth team was formed in partnership with Külsheim. In 2020, Kris Malcherek took over as the sole head coach. A younger generation of players is coming up through the ranks and is gradually taking over from the former TT students.
April 2022
Finally, the Oberliga!
After seven years as a "Badenliga veteran," the team pulled off a major upset in the promotion-relegation match in Kirchheim: promotion to the Oberliga! Jan Fiederling has worked his way up to the No. 4 spot and broken through the 2,000 TTR barrier.
2023
Luis Is Coming Back
The first Oberliga season ends on a high note. The second men’s team, featuring former TT students Miguel Degen, Maurice Anderlik, and Nils Krause, is promoted to the Verbandsklasse. And then comes the surprise: Luis Freundschig returns to practice after nine years—as if he’d never been away. For the first time, girls’ teams are also registered.

Sensational: The Regional League!
After just two years in the Oberliga, the team pulls off another sensation: promotion to the Regionalliga Südwest! With Nestor Wasylkowski as the new star player and a strong team effort, the dream becomes a reality. The Pfeiferhalle in Niklashausen becomes the stage for top-level sports on a national level.
