Where the Future Takes the Court
There are teams for which the standings aren’t the only thing that matters. Our fifth men’s team is exactly that kind of team. It is the heart of our club’s philosophy, the place where talented kids grow into confident competitors. Here, the very young meet the seasoned veterans; here, the next generation learns what it takes to hold their own in adult competition: against broad-shouldered veterans, against the thrill of the game, against opponents who have already won many battles at the table.
The roster reads like a living family album of the club. There’s Udo Anderlik, who leads the way with a steady hand and decades of experience. There are the Klimczak and Harter siblings and families, for whom table tennis has long been a labor of love. And then there are the youngest members—Eva-Marie Keller and Lorena Harter, both born in 2012, as well as Raphael Harter and Ola Klimczak, who are taking their first steps in competitive play with sparkling eyes and growing skill. Rounding out this diverse group are Maria Klimczak, Christian Harter, and Christine Harff, who serve as reliable pillars of stability and have the young players’ backs.
That is precisely the true purpose of this team: it serves as a bridge. The experienced players and participating parents contribute, through their points, to making these moments of success possible. After all, nothing keeps the enthusiasm and motivation of young talents alive quite like a victory won together. What matters here isn’t just the point on the score sheet, but the joy of the game, the camaraderie, and the spark that ignites when a young player defeats a seasoned opponent for the first time.
In the new season, the team will be competing in Kreisklasse A for the third time—this time in the North Group. Our opponents include Gerchsheim, Gissigheim II, TTC Bobstadt III, FC Külsheim VIII, and others. It’s a field where we can hold our own if experience and youthful ambition go hand in hand.
The goal is to avoid relegation—but this team’s true reward can’t be found in any standings. It becomes evident year after year when a talent who has matured here makes the leap to a higher-level team. The fifth team sows the seeds that the entire club will later reap. And that is exactly what makes it so valuable.
